Tesla has increased the prices for two trims of its Cybertruck pickup truck by $5,000 each. The base Dual Motor model now starts at $74,990, up from $69,990, and the Premium All-Wheel Drive trim has risen to $84,990 from $79,990. The top-tier Cyberbeast model retains its price of $99,990.
These price adjustments come despite lower-than-expected sales for the Cybertruck. Cox Automotive estimated that Tesla sold 7,263 Cybertrucks in the U.S. during the first half of 2026, a 32.2% decrease from the same period last year. This figure falls significantly short of the 250,000 annual deliveries once projected by CEO Elon Musk.
According to Seth Goldstein, a Morningstar analyst, the price hikes may help Tesla mitigate increased material costs and maintain profit margins, especially as the company anticipates lower sales volumes for the Cybertruck. Goldstein suggested that Tesla is positioning the Cybertruck as a niche luxury vehicle, capable of commanding a premium price due to its distinctive design, rather than pursuing mass-market sales. This strategy aligns with Tesla's earlier discontinuation of its more premium-focused Model X and Model S vehicles.
