Japanese satellite data provider Synspective has signed its largest launch agreement to date with U.S.-based Rocket Lab, securing 20 launches. The deal, announced on June 18, 2024, aims to accelerate Synspective's construction of its StriX satellite constellation.
Rocket Lab will conduct the 20 launches, which include 10 new dedicated missions alongside two already booked for 2024. Synspective has previously relied on Rocket Lab for four successful deployments of its StriX satellites since 2020. The new launches are scheduled to occur between 2025 and 2027.
By utilizing dedicated launches on Rocket Lab's Electron rocket, Synspective gains control over its launch schedule and precise satellite deployment parameters, enabling it to build its constellation on its own terms. Synspective's mission is to provide end-to-end SAR satellite data and solutions to create a "learning world" that expands human capabilities and addresses global environmental and resource challenges.
The announcement event in Tokyo was attended by Synspective founder and CEO Dr. Motoyuki Arai, Rocket Lab founder and CEO Sir Peter Beck, and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, who was leading a business delegation to Japan.
