The Investment Association (IA) has announced the appointment of John Owen as its new Chief Executive, effective immediately. Owen succeeds Chris Cummings, who departs after a decade leading the industry body.
Owen brings a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors, with a career spanning financial services, regulation, and public policy. He spent twenty years in the UK civil service, holding senior positions at HM Treasury, the Cabinet Office, and the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office. Notably, he served as Director for Financial Services at HM Treasury from 2022 to 2025, where he was instrumental in shaping domestic financial services policy and overseeing the UK's post-Brexit regulatory framework.
