Roblox is enhancing its game development ecosystem by expanding its AI-powered creation tools and enabling games to reach players beyond its own platform. At its annual Roblox Developer Conference, the company unveiled new features aimed at making game creation easier and more accessible, while also broadening the distribution channels for those games.
The generative AI feature "Build," which allows users to create games using natural language prompts, is being rolled out more broadly. Initially available in New Zealand, it is now expanding to Serbia and Singapore. The feature is also gaining desktop access, an expanded asset library, and iterative control, with a prompt-based scene-generation feature planned for later this year, extending to Roblox Studio.
Roblox is also focusing on making created games playable in more locations. Creators will soon be able to distribute their games as standalone applications on mobile, PC, and consoles, with Roblox serving as the underlying game engine. By the end of the year, players will be able to access games directly through a web browser via a shared link.
In addition to creation and distribution enhancements, Roblox is introducing new functionalities for non-player characters (NPCs), including the ability for them to playtest games. Creators will also be able to implement an offline mode, allowing continuous gameplay even with weak network connections. Players will benefit from a new Friends chat tab with voice typing support that moves with them across games.
To support creators, Roblox is launching financial products. A Roblox Wallet will allow creators to receive their earnings in real money by the end of each business day, with plans for global expansion through a partnership with Airwallex for U.S. users. A Roblox Card, slated for release next year, will enable users to spend their earnings at various merchants.
