Rivian's R2 electric SUV is positioned as a key product for the company, aiming for the mainstream market with a starting price of $44,990. The vehicle's design is notably more upright and blocky compared to many other EVs, a choice Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe believes addresses a gap in the market for more conventional SUV aesthetics. The R2 incorporates several unique features, including a 'Ghostbusters' theme jingle for door locking and a flashlight integrated into the driver's door panel. The interior offers ample storage, with two glove boxes, a deep center console, a frunk, and a large rear cargo area. During testing, the R2 averaged 3.4 miles per kWh over approximately 200 miles. While the performance-oriented dual-motor tester offered strong acceleration, its suspension was noted as being quite firm, leading to a less comfortable ride for passengers.
