A man suspected of a deadly shooting near Paris last Friday has admitted to targeting people of "Muslim, African or North African" appearance, prosecutors said Thursday. The national anti-terrorism prosecutor's office (PNAT) announced the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Kevin T, has been charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with a terrorist enterprise. President Emmanuel Macron condemned the incident as a "racist terrorist attack," prompting anti-racism demonstrations across France. The victim, 26-year-old French-Congolese martial artist Pengo Bossio Wangi, was killed, and seven others were injured, three of whom remained hospitalized. The suspect reportedly told investigators he chose the Paris suburbs of Trappes and La Verrière because he perceived them as a "hotbed for Islamists," though he denied any "terrorist intent" and claimed his actions were "legitimate."
