NOPA names Erik Janus director of regulatory affairs

The National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) announced on September 10, 2026, that Erik Janus has joined the organization as its Director of Regulatory Affairs. Janus will also serve in a shared capacity with the American Oil Chemists’ Society (AOCS), with whom NOPA has maintained a formal partnership for over 40 years. In this role, he will provide technical regulatory guidance to member companies of both associations.

Janus brings more than 25 years of experience in developing regulatory strategies across various sectors. His previous senior regulatory positions include roles at Vive Crop Protection, Monsanto, and CropLife America, and he also founded his own consulting firm. His background includes committee leadership and advocacy efforts with federal agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

NOPA, founded in 1930, represents the U.S. soybean, canola, flaxseed, safflower seed, and sunflower seed-crushing industries. Its members operate 73 extraction plants across 20 states and crush over 99% of U.S. soybeans annually. AOCS, established in 1909, focuses on advancing the science and technology of oils, fats, proteins, and related materials.
