Albert Meggers and Colleen Rogers, experienced Keller Williams brokerage owners in California, have moved five of their offices and nearly 400 agents to NextHome's newly launched large-office franchise model. Meggers was the first to sign on after NextHome introduced the five-year model in May, designed for large, high-performing operators. His NextHome Coastal Estates and NextHome Central Coast offices added approximately 200 agents across California's Central Coast and Ventura County. In September, Rogers transitioned three Orange County offices under the NextHome Pacific Estates banner, bringing another roughly 200 agents from Yorba Linda, Orange, and Anaheim. Both owners previously operated under the Keller Williams brand.
The moves occur as large brokerages reassess their franchise relationships and technology stacks due to margin pressures, changes in business models following commission settlements, and ongoing agent recruitment competition. Keith Robinson, NextHome's president of strategy, stated that the company built its model to reduce operational friction for high-performing teams. Rogers noted that the switch addressed pain points like complex technology and a perceived distance between ownership and agents, expressing renewed energy among her agents. Meggers cited limited franchise options for larger operators as a catalyst, believing NextHome is positioned to fill an innovation gap. NextHome's large-office model, part of AGNT, Inc., offers a single five-year agreement with two technology paths: a Full Tech Stack and a Lite Tech Stack. James Dwiggins, president of NextHome, emphasized the model's flexibility to support scale and simplicity for large operators while preserving culture and independence.
