The Institute for Feed Education and Research (IFEEDER) has released its 2026 annual update and a five-year strategic plan designed to bolster the sustainability and resilience of the animal feed and pet food supply chain. The plan, detailed in a report available on ifeeder.org, outlines IFEEDER's vision for the coming years, building on the progress made in research, education, and outreach over the past year.
Key achievements highlighted in the annual update include the vitamin and amino acid supply chain assessment, which provided an evidence-based evaluation of U.S. dependence on imports for these critical ingredients. This assessment generated over 534 media citations and informed industry engagement with policymakers on strengthening the U.S. ingredient supply chain. IFEEDER also advanced projects focused on sustainability and animal nutrition, such as fostering cross-value chain partnerships for shared sustainability goals and improving U.S. ingredient data in the Global Feed Lifecycle Assessment Institute database.
The new strategic plan establishes three core goals: to serve as a trusted partner, deliver actionable research and practical resources, and build operating capacity for growth and collaboration. IFEEDER aims to expand partnerships, pursue high-impact projects, and translate research into tangible resources for the animal food industry. The organization also successfully raised over $86,000 for its Equipment Manufacturers Committee Scholarship Fund and the Kenny Berg Research and Education Fund, and its second annual Day of Giving garnered more than $21,000 from over 120 donors.
