More than 73,800 subdivided flats in Hong Kong have applied for a three-year grace period to comply with the government’s minimum housing standards. Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho Wing-yin stated on Saturday that the figure, received during the "early bird" registration phase of the Basic Housing Unit Ordinance which concluded on August 31, was "better than expected."
