Hong Kong authorities have prosecuted 20 restaurants for unlawfully allowing dogs onto their premises since the city’s dog-friendly dining scheme launched in July. The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) announced on Sunday that seven people were also prosecuted for bringing dogs into eateries without permission, while four others faced charges for failing to keep their pets securely leashed in permitted restaurants. The FEHD initiated a one-week targeted enforcement operation on July 14 to combat non-permitted food premises. Over 990 restaurants currently hold permission to allow dogs, and the department reminded the public to confirm approval before dining out with pets.
