Google is expanding AI Mode's capabilities to act as a travel agent, allowing users to track flight prices, book hotels, and view costs in points or miles. The updates aim to move the conversational search experience beyond information retrieval to direct trip planning and booking.

These enhancements position Google's AI Mode as a more integrated and functional travel planning tool, potentially streamlining the booking process for users and increasing Google's role in online travel transactions.
Google is enhancing its AI Mode, a conversational search experience, with new features designed to assist users in planning and booking trips. The company announced on Thursday that users can now leverage AI Mode to track flight prices, book hotels, and view travel costs in terms of loyalty points or miles.
These updates signal Google's intention to position AI Mode as a comprehensive AI travel agent, moving beyond simple information retrieval to actively manage aspects of the trip-planning and booking process. Users can describe their desired travel dates and destinations, and AI Mode will present available flight options with current pricing from over 300 airlines and travel websites. For those looking to monitor fares, users can request price tracking, receiving email notifications when prices change for their selected routes and dates. This flight price tracking feature is now accessible in more than 180 countries.
In terms of hotel bookings, users can engage in a conversation with AI Mode to discover and reserve accommodations. By providing trip details and hotel preferences, users will receive a curated list of options, complete with reviews and key information. Once a suitable hotel is identified, AI Mode can facilitate the booking process. Users will have the option to 'Continue on Google,' which integrates with partners such as Booking.com, Choice Hotels International, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Priceline, Trip.com, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. The booking can then be finalized using Google Pay after selecting a room and reviewing details like cancellation policies. Google has stated that the hotel or booking platform will manage the reservation and any subsequent customer service.
Hotel booking via AI Mode is currently rolling out in the U.S. in English and is expected to expand in the coming weeks. Additionally, AI Mode can now display the cost of flights and hotels in points or miles. Users can specify their preferred loyalty program, such as 'AA miles,' and dates to find matching flight options. This feature is now available globally.
