BAG Ventures, a new firm founded by former Google executives Bontia Stewart and Jackson Georges Jr., has closed an $11.3 million fund dedicated to early-stage artificial intelligence startups. The fund's strategy focuses on AI companies that can demonstrate immediate value and integrate deeply into enterprise workflows, moving beyond the experimental phase of AI adoption.
Stewart, a former Google vice president with nearly a decade in the role, and Georges, a former partner at Alphabet's growth fund CapitalG, aim to leverage their industry connections to provide founders with direct access to potential enterprise customers and hands-on go-to-market advice. They believe the era of open-ended AI experimentation is ending, with enterprises now prioritizing solutions that offer deterministic outcomes and integrate into legacy systems to automate tasks like code reviews and legal document analysis.
The firm has already invested in 10 companies, including software firm SXD, AI travel agent BizTrip, and agentic reasoning platform Nomadic. BAG Ventures targets startups in areas such as AI infrastructure, compute, edge AI, security, and governance, with check sizes ranging from $100,000 to $500,000. They plan to deploy the remainder of the fund over the next two years.
Georges emphasized a shift in enterprise AI purchasing, where companies will increasingly buy completed jobs and outcomes driven by multi-agent workflows rather than per-user software seats. BAG Ventures seeks core technical teams with a minimum viable product and a clear path to monetization, prioritizing those that capture proprietary data and own the "intent layer" to ensure long-term survival against large AI model providers.
The firm is also interested in startups serving highly regulated industries, requiring specialization in data privacy, internal data flow security, and automated red-teaming, citing their portfolio company Defendremate as an example. Additionally, BAG Ventures sees a significant opportunity in Identity and Access Management tools for AI agents, focusing on "zero trust" architecture for agentic systems.
