The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) announced the award on Sunday, following a vote by members of the South Korean media covering the event.
Oh will receive a prize of 30 million won (US$22,240) for his achievement. This marks the second time the KSOC has recognized its top athletes at multisports competitions, having started the practice at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.
In the men's sabre individual event, Oh claimed his second consecutive gold medal. He also played a crucial role in South Korea's victory in the team sabre fencing final, helping the nation secure its fourth straight title in the event, all while competing with lower back and ankle injuries.
During the men's team final on September 26, South Korea faced Japan. Trailing 40-39 entering the final bout between Oh and Mao Kokubo, South Korea found itself further behind at 44-41. However, Oh staged an improbable comeback, scoring four consecutive points to snatch the victory from the brink of defeat.
