FBI Co-Deputy Director Andrew Bailey to resign

Bailey's departure follows a period where numerous agents and veteran FBI officials have reportedly been terminated or pushed out under Patel's leadership, with some alleging politically motivated purges. Bailey had reportedly been considered by the White House for the director position. His exit comes shortly after the reassignment of two senior counterterrorism supervisors concerning an investigation into alleged harassing phone calls made to Katie Miller, wife of senior White House aide Stephen Miller.

Bailey had been sharing the co-deputy director duties with Christopher Raia, a career agent. Raia had replaced Dan Bongino, who was the Trump administration's initial choice for the role. Patel has faced criticism from Democrats regarding his leadership, with allegations that FBI priorities have been shifted to align with the president's wishes.
