Bentley unveils Torcal, its first all-electric vehicle

Bentley has formally unveiled the Torcal, its first battery-electric vehicle, named after a Spanish rock formation. The production car, which is smaller than the Bentayga and expected to be priced below it, brings some design ideas from the EXP 15 concept to the road.

The Torcal utilizes technology shared within the Volkswagen Group, including with Porsche. The standard model is rated for peak outputs of 810 hp (604 kW) and 880 lb-ft (1,194 Nm) of torque, enabling a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.3 seconds. A more powerful Torcal S variant boasts 875 hp (653 kW) and 995 lb-ft (1,350 Nm) of torque, capable of reaching 60 mph from a standstill in 2.8 seconds and achieving a top speed of 162 mph (260 km/h), up from 155 mph (250 km/h) for the standard version.

Despite its heavier weight, the Torcal's suspension and drive modes have been tuned to provide a familiar experience for existing Bentley customers, including adjustments to pedal calibration and steering response. Martin Page, product line director for the Torcal, stated that the vehicle offers the ride comfort of a Flying Spur in steady-state environments and the dynamic capability of a GT in dynamic settings.
