At least 15 Nepali workers were killed when an avalanche buried a mountain camp they were preparing for foreign climbers in central Nepal, a rescue official said on Thursday. The incident occurred over the weekend on the Himlung Himal mountain in the northern Manang district.
Rescuers recovered 15 bodies from the site, with eight bodies found on Thursday and seven earlier in the week, according to Tul Singh Gurung, president of the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association. One worker remains missing, and Gurung stated that chances of finding them are slim, with the rescue operation likely to conclude.
