Amazon has introduced the Kindle Click, a $34.99 Bluetooth remote designed to allow users to turn pages on their Kindle e-readers without touching the device. The accessory aims to solve common inconveniences for readers in various situations, such as reading in bed or during travel. It is compatible with newer Kindle models and enters a market with similar offerings from competitors like Rakuten Kobo and BOOX.
The introduction of the Kindle Click by Amazon addresses a niche but common user pain point for e-reader owners, potentially increasing convenience and sales for its Kindle devices. It also signals Amazon's continued focus on expanding its accessory ecosystem to complement its hardware offerings.
Amazon has unveiled a new accessory for its e-reader line: the Kindle Click, a $34.99 remote designed to facilitate page turning. This compact Bluetooth device aims to enhance the reading experience by allowing users to advance pages without physically interacting with their Kindle. The company positions the remote for scenarios where touching the device is inconvenient, such as reading in bed or while exercising.
The Kindle Click is compatible with all new Kindle devices and those released from 2024 onward. This move by Amazon enters a market where competitors have already established similar products. Rakuten Kobo offers its Kobo Remote for $29.99, and BOOX provides the Tappy wireless page turner for its devices at the same price point. While Amazon's offering is priced slightly higher, it is likely banking on brand loyalty and the appeal of an official accessory tailored for its Kindle ecosystem.
This accessory launch coincides with a broader redesign of the Kindle lineup, which Amazon states features slimmer, lighter designs with zero bezels and 30% faster page turns compared to previous generations. Amazon also announced other new accessories, including a magnetic cover with integrated page-turn buttons and a charging dock stand for specific Kindle Paperwhite and Colorsoft Signature Edition models.
