ADNOC Gas will supply up to 1.6 million tons of liquefied natural gas to TotalEnergies over five years under an agreement the two companies announced on November 3, 2026. ADNOC Gas is the gas unit of Abu Dhabi's state energy firm, and TotalEnergies is one of the world's largest LNG traders.
TotalEnergies said the first deliveries under the agreement would begin as early as 2026. Stéphane Michel, president of gas, renewables and power at TotalEnergies, said the supply would let the company confirm its position as one of the main LNG portfolio suppliers, citing the supplier's location between Europe and Asia.
ADNOC Gas CEO Fatema Al Nuaimi said the agreement reflects the strength of the company's LNG business, the competitiveness of its supply offering and its ability to secure long-term partnerships. ADNOC Gas also pointed to continued growth in global LNG demand and said the Abu Dhabi company is positioned to capture that growth.
The deal follows a period of severely constrained LNG flows through the Strait of Hormuz over the past eight months, according to the report. The UAE is developing the Ruwais LNG project in Al Ruwais Industrial City in Abu Dhabi, with 9.6 million tons per annum of production capacity, most of which has been committed to international buyers in Asia and Europe through long-term agreements.
The agreement comes a few months after ADNOC launched a global LNG marketing and trading platform combining the LNG marketing operations of ADNOC Gas and XRG with the trading capabilities of ADNOC Trading. Through that consolidation, ADNOC targets 47 million tons per annum of combined marketable LNG by 2035.
