Housing Industry Association Chief Executive Simon Croft discusses the rapid growth of data centres across Australia and what role they’ll play in the next federal election. “We have over 163 in the country, and another planned up to 336,” Mr Croft told News24. “We did raise the flag about data centres displacing housing; we saw a project down in Melbourne, for instance, that took 2,200 lots that were earmarked for housing, with a data centre coming over the top of that. “Leading into our next federal election, I can see this being a really critical issue for Australia.”
