Trump to address UN General Assembly as global conflicts take centre stage

The United Nations General Assembly is underway in New York. The 81st session will see 130 leaders and senior officials try to tackle trade, climate change, artificial intelligence and wars in the Middle East and Ukraine. All eyes also on US President Donald Trump's speech in the opening session. He is expected to tout efforts to end the Gaza conflict and justify American actions on the Iran war, which has caused anxiety over shipping and energy supplies. Observers are also bracing for a renewed assault on the United Nations, given Mr Trump's bruising attack last year. James Gooderson reports from New York.
