EU, Philippines reach free trade deal that would eliminate over 94% tariffs on both sides

The European Union and the Philippines have reached a breakthrough in negotiations on a free trade deal, in which Manila would remove tariffs on more than 94% of trade. It's the latest push by the bloc, which is looking to diversify ties amid US tariffs and wider global trade uncertainty. The EU was Philippines' fourth-largest trading partner in 2025, accounting for 8.3% of country's total trade in goods. Jhesset Enano reports from Puerto Princesa, Palawan in the Philippines.
