Despite persistent concerns on commercial viability, South Korea is set to invest in a gas-fired power plant in Texas as part of a US$350 billion commitment from Seoul to Washington. These details emerged as South Korean President Lee Jae Myung visits New York for the UN General Assembly. The US$350 billion commitment was part of a broader trade agreement that cut US tariffs on South Korean goods to 15%. US$150 billion is earmarked for shipbuilding, with the remaining US$200 billion for strategic investments. Lim Yun Suk reports from Seoul.
