Singapore will work with ASEAN member states to set up a regional coordinating centre in Indonesia to tackle transboundary haze, when it takes the chair of the regional bloc next year. Sustainability and the Environment Minister Grace Fu gave the update as she addressed queries in parliament on how the haze situation can be prevented upstream. She added that Singapore will not introduce additional PM2.5 forecasts, as more air quality indicators could confuse the public. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Manpower Dinesh Vasu Dash called for employers to exercise greater flexibility in protecting workers from the haze, including making adjustments to work arrangements.
