For the first time, a Singaporean could take a seat on the International Court of Justice. Ambassador Rena Lee is among nine candidates vying for five positions on the UN's highest court, each carrying a nine-year term. Her career spans the Attorney-General's Chambers, Ministry of Defence and Intellectual Property Office of Singapore. In 2024, she was named one of TIME magazine's 100 most influential people. If elected, Ms Lee would also become the first Southeast Asian woman on the bench. Voting begins on Tuesday morning at the UN headquarters in New York. Nikhil Khattar reports.
