660 new electric buses will be rolled out progressively from end-2026. The deployment is a step forward in making half of Singapore's public bus fleet electric by 2030. Bus captains will be supported by an advanced driver assistance system with surround-view cameras, collision warnings and anti-fatigue monitoring. New displays at the back of the buses will also alert other road users when the bus is stopping or moving off. Meanwhile, more AI-powered traffic lights will be trialled across western Singapore. By next year, 60 traffic lights will be equipped with technology that adjusts signal timings in real time to ease congestion. Charlotte Lim and Claudia Lim report.
