The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in Uganda to be over. This declaration follows the discharge of Uganda's last Ebola patient on June 16, after which authorities waited the WHO-recommended 42 days to ensure no further transmission chains were missed. Ugandan health officials stated that the cases in their country were linked to the larger outbreak in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
