Local authorities confirmed the incident, with emergency services responding. The attack on the refinery, which has an annual processing capacity of approximately 8 million metric tons, highlights Ukraine's increasing reach in targeting Russian energy infrastructure far from the front lines.
In a separate development, Russian authorities reported that 11 people, including four children, were killed in an overnight attack on a holiday camp in the Russian-held part of Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region. Russian-appointed governor Yevgeny Balitsky accused Kyiv of deliberately targeting civilians, while Ukraine did not immediately respond to the claims.
Ukraine also stated that its drones struck a Russian oil platform belonging to Lukoil in the Caspian Sea, part of Russia's largest Caspian oil field.
