Richard Pearson, whose week-long holiday began on September 21, described his experience as "a floating hotel with coach transfers." Upon arrival in Budapest, passengers were informed their ship was in Vienna and they were accommodated in a hotel. The next day involved a four-hour coach journey to reach the vessel, which then sailed overnight to Krems. Passengers were then bussed on day trips to nearby locations, with the return sailing to Vienna also occurring in darkness. Pearson estimated spending 14 to 15 hours of his holiday on coach journeys.
