Toyoda Gosei, an auto parts manufacturer affiliated with Toyota Motor, is set to construct a new factory in western India. The facility, located in Maharashtra's Bidkin Industrial Area, represents an investment of INR5.76 billion (US$65 million) and is scheduled to commence production in the first half of 2029. This expansion directly supports Toyota Motor's planned capacity increase in the region, with the new plant operating as a branch of Toyoda Gosei South India Pvt. Ltd., the company's Karnataka-based subsidiary founded in 1998. The site will occupy approximately 78,400 square meters of land and is expected to employ around 570 people by 2030. The plant will manufacture a range of components including bumpers, instrument panels, airbags, steering wheels, and plastic fuel filler pipes, catering to Japanese automakers. The facility will incorporate advanced manufacturing systems such as large electric injection molding machines, automated guided vehicles, and IoT-based production management, alongside a 'karakuri' automation method that combines collaborative robots with traditional Japanese mechanical automation for cost efficiency. Solar panels will also be installed at the site.
