Singapore ride-hailing company Tada Mobility has joined a self-driving minibus project on Sentosa, the country's resort island, the company and Sentosa Development Corp. said in a report published November 8, 2026. The service is scheduled to begin in early 2027, putting Tada alongside rivals including Grab in autonomous vehicle services.
The pilot will start with two autonomous vehicles developed by WeRide, a Chinese autonomous driving technology company, serving a network of 27 pick-up and drop-off points. Rides will be booked through Tada's app and will be complimentary during the pilot, which is scheduled to run daily from 1pm to 7pm. Each vehicle can carry up to eight guests and will have a safety operator on board, with remote monitoring to support assistance when needed.
The first phase is targeted for early 2027 and will cover western Sentosa, connecting hotels, beaches and attractions around Siloso, Imbiah and Beach Station. Later phases are expected to extend coverage to the rest of the island, subject to regulatory approvals from Singapore's Land Transport Authority. SDC and Tada said they will work with the LTA on safety and operational protocols and will run further trials on routes, booking arrangements, boarding procedures and safety measures before public rides begin.
The vehicles will use service roads along Siloso Beach and Palawan Beach as well as public roads across the island, and will be able to bypass certain stops along predetermined routes. The pilot builds on Sentosa's initial autonomous vehicle trial in 2019 but uses an on-demand model rather than fixed routes.
