South Korea has signed a deal to export 19 Chunmoo multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) to Croatia for approximately 640 billion won (US$477 million), according to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA). The contract was signed by South Korean defense firm Hanwha Aerospace Co. with Croatia's defense ministry on Thursday, marking the first major defense contract between the two nations. Croatia becomes the fourth European country to acquire the Chunmoo system, following Poland, Estonia, and Norway. The Chunmoo MLRS is designed to counter North Korea's long-range artillery threats and is capable of delivering rapid, precision strikes using various types of rockets and missiles. DAPA anticipates that this export deal will facilitate expanded long-term, strategic cooperation with Croatian defense firms, including industrial cooperation and post-logistics support. Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back and DAPA Minister Lee Yong-cheol attended the signing ceremony, where discussions were held to enhance bilateral defense cooperation.
