South Korean defense firm Hanwha Aerospace Co. has signed a deal to export 18 Chunmoo multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) to Croatia for approximately 640 billion won (US$477 million), according to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA). The 410 million-euro contract, signed on September 10, 2026, represents the first significant arms agreement between the two nations and opens possibilities for expanded cooperation in defense and security. Croatia joins Poland, Estonia, and Norway as European recipients of the Chunmoo system. The MLRS is designed to counter long-range artillery and rocket launchers, with an operational range of up to 80 kilometers, capable of precision and area-wide strikes. Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic were present at the signing ceremony. Additionally, Ahn and Croatian Defense Minister Ivan Anusic signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a framework for advancing defense ties through regular dialogue.
