South Korea adds 184,000 jobs in August, highest in five months

The total number of employed individuals reached 29.15 million in August, an increase from 28.96 million a year prior. The nation's jobless rate remained steady at 2 percent in August, consistent with the previous year. The number of unemployed individuals totaled 588,000, a decrease of 4,000 from August 2025. The employment rate for individuals aged 15 to 29 was 44.1 percent, down 1 percentage point year-on-year.

Previously, South Korea's nominal GDP experienced its fastest growth in 47 years during the second quarter, driven by AI-related exports and investments. The country is also on track to achieve a per capita gross national income (GNI) of $40,000.
