Samsung Electronics will use its second foundry plant in Taylor, Texas, to produce base dies for high-bandwidth memory chips for AMD and Nvidia, South Korea's Maeil Business Newspaper reported on November 3, 2026, citing industry sources. Reuters relayed the report. Samsung Electronics declined to comment.
According to Maeil, construction is due to start formally in November, and the plant has secured orders for its entire output, with most of the secured volume intended for AMD. The plant will use advanced 2-nanometre technology and cover about 2.7 million square feet, roughly 1.5 times the size of the first facility, which has a contract with Tesla, the newspaper said.
Maeil said equipment is expected to be installed from February 2029, with mass production in 2030. The report did not state the value of the orders or the volume involved.
The primary report concerns the Taylor plant. An attached article from Tom's Hardware about Nvidia supply chain agreements announced on October 21 was not used.
