Samsung Electronics remained the world's largest smartphone vendor in the third quarter, shipping 57.8 million handsets in the July-September period, according to data compiled by industry tracker Omdia and reported by Yonhap on November 2, 2026.
That volume was down 5 percent from a year earlier and equal to 22.7 percent of global shipments. Omdia put the fall in overall smartphone shipments at 20 percent over the same period, leaving Samsung's decline far smaller than the market's.
Omdia attributed Samsung's showing to steady sales of its entry-level and midrange Galaxy A series, saying the company met demand with a diversified product lineup. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, launched in August, also helped its position in the premium segment, according to the tracker.
Apple ranked second with 56.5 million units, unchanged from a year earlier, for a market share of around 22.2 percent, the Omdia data showed.
