Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv early Thursday, killing at least three people and injuring 20, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The strikes damaged buildings, including a children's hospital in the Solomianskyi district, and caused fires and power outages across the capital. More than 10 explosions were heard in districts such as Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi. Ukraine's Air Force had warned of incoming ballistic missiles, potentially including Russian Zircon missiles launched from Kursk Oblast. The attack comes amid Ukraine's reported shortage of interceptor missiles for its Patriot air defense systems.
