Former England rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio is selling his 2003 World Cup-winning medal and other career memorabilia at auction next month due to ongoing financial difficulties. The 54-year-old was declared bankrupt last year, and his bankruptcy terms were extended earlier this summer following an application to the High Court.

Dallaglio's ex-wife initiated recent insolvency proceedings by applying for an order to sell their London mansion. The property was initially listed for £2.7 million but eventually sold for £2.4 million.

Documents filed with Companies House last year showed that Dallaglio owed £423,570 in overdrawn director's loans related to his defunct company, Lawrence Dallaglio Limited, and over £60,000 to liquidators. HM Revenue and Customs had also lodged claims totaling approximately £350,000, with two other creditors claiming £61,000.

The 2003 World Cup-winning medal is estimated to fetch between £50,000 and £80,000 at auction. Other items include his 2007 World Cup runners-up medal (£10,000), a 2003 Six Nations winner's medal (£5,000), and medals from his time with Wasps (£8,000 each). His British and Irish Lions cap is also up for sale for £5,500. The auction is scheduled for October 13.
