The Port of Tilbury has inaugurated a new bulk storage and handling facility at Berth 43, designed for its long-term customer Cefetra, a major UK trader of grains and animal feed raw materials. The purpose-built facility spans approximately 14,000 square meters, equivalent to two football pitches, and is equipped to store and handle up to 65,000 tonnes of imported animal feed products, such as soyabean meal. Designed for direct vessel discharge, the hub aims to enhance operational efficiency and reduce cargo handling movements. This investment by Forth Ports, the operator of the Port of Tilbury, reinforces the port's standing as a key UK gateway for agricultural commodities and bulk cargoes, while supporting the resilience and efficiency of the UK's agricultural supply chains. Both Forth Ports and Cefetra highlighted their long-standing partnership and the strategic importance of the new facility for reliable and efficient handling of animal feed imports.
