Paramount Skydance deal to buy Warner Bros. Discovery cleared after settlements

Paramount Skydance's proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery has received clearance to proceed following settlements in two key lawsuits. David Ellison, CEO of Paramount Skydance, informed employees via a memo that the company has resolved concerns raised by the California Attorney General's office, representing 11 other State AGs, and by the Writers Guild of America (WGA).

In the memo, Ellison stated, "We have complete clearance for this merger and can move toward closing." He noted that the agreement includes commitments to produce over 30 films annually and to expand U.S. film production, aimed at revitalizing the industry. Ellison expressed excitement about combining the companies to create more opportunities for creatives, production crews, and employees, and to deliver more entertainment to audiences.

The tentative closing for the deal is expected in approximately two weeks. Ellison acknowledged that there is still work to be done to finalize the transaction and address questions regarding employee roles and team structures. He directed employees to an "Integration Hub" for further information and support.
