Netanyahu Orders Removal of Unauthorized West Bank Settler Outposts

Outposts, typically consisting of prefabricated caravans housing a small number of settlers, are established without official authorization from the Israeli state. The state has previously demolished such structures and also formally recognized others. It remains unclear when the operation to dismantle these outposts will commence.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has denounced violent settlers, calling them terrorists and urging severe consequences. Reports from Israeli media suggest that approximately 100 outposts could be affected by this order.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who is himself a settler and has overseen settlement housing projects, acknowledged Netanyahu's instruction to evict locations in Areas A and B, though he expressed disagreement with the decision. He noted that the government has made significant progress in advancing settlements in Area C.

In a separate ruling, Israel's Supreme Court mandated that defense authorities must enable the safe return of three Palestinian families to their homes in the West Bank village of Jalud, from which they were displaced by settlers. This ruling addresses a specific instance of settler-related displacement.
