Meta has acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup that lets users start software projects by deploying multiple agents into parallel workspaces, Conductor said in a blog post on November 4, 2026. Meta confirmed the acquisition to TechCrunch but would not comment further or provide details about the deal. Axios first reported the acquisition.
Conductor's founder and CEO, Charlie Holtz, wrote in the blog post: "I have big news: Conductor is joining Meta." He said the company had "some big, crazy plans for the next interface" and would have "something new" for customers by early next year. On X, Holtz said he looked forward to working with Alexandr Wang, Meta's chief AI officer, and Nat Friedman, head of product at the company's Superintelligence Labs.
Conductor was founded in 2024 and launched its core product in the summer of 2025. Its agentic teams can be deployed in the cloud, locally or via a user's phone, and are designed to help software engineers work on separate, compartmentalized parts of a project in concert. The agents the platform deploys are not developed in-house but come from major labs including Anthropic and OpenAI.
Holtz said Conductor's core features would keep working as they previously have until early next year. The exception is Conductor's cloud service, which will shut down on November 20, after which the company will begin deleting user cloud data.
Meta has spent the past several months trying to catch up in AI services. In August it launched Muse Code, its own coding agent, and the company recently reported that its Muse agents service had surpassed 10 million users. Meta has also made a number of AI-related acquisitions over the past year, including Moltbook, the viral agent platform.
