Telstra said a fault in its MessageBank service sent customers delayed missed call and voicemail notifications, some dating back several days, and that the issue had been fixed on the night of November 4, 2026.
"We identified an issue with our MessageBank service yesterday, which was fixed last night," a Telstra spokesperson said in a statement. "Some customers may have noticed several delayed missed call and voicemail notifications arriving at once, some dating back to several days." The spokesperson added: "We're sorry for the confusion this may have caused. There was no impact to Triple Zero calls, voice calls or mobile data."
Users described the notifications on Telstra's Facebook page, which drew more than three thousand comments, according to the report. One user, LisaMaree Collier, wrote that she received a missed call on her work mobile from her personal mobile, which was locked in a cupholder at the time. Steven Alexandrou said his phone showed a call from his father, who was next to him.
Telstra has 26 million mobile services on its network, the report said. The company had a nationwide outage in July that affected millions of customers, took some train services offline and prevented shops from using Eftpos machines, the report said. Telstra blamed a "software defect" at the time, with CEO Vicki Brady saying the company would take steps to prevent such an outage from happening again.
