Welsh actor Matthew Rhys achieved a historic feat at the Emmy Awards, becoming the first individual to secure two lead acting prizes in a single evening. Rhys was honored for his performances in the psychological thriller "The Beast In Me" and the supernatural comedy "Widow's Bay".
Accepting his second award, Rhys dedicated it to the people of Wales, calling them a "small but mighty nation" that "punch higher than our weight sometimes". He won best lead actor in a limited series for "The Beast In Me" and best lead actor in a comedy for "Widow's Bay".
Other notable wins included Kate O'Flynn, who received best supporting comedy actress for her role as Patricia in "Widow's Bay". Jean Smart secured best comedy actress for "Hacks", marking her fifth Emmy for the role and eighth overall. Allison Janney also earned her eighth Emmy, winning best supporting actress in a drama series, tying the record for most acting wins with Smart, Cloris Leachman, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
