Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, with missiles and drones early on Monday. Officials reported that apartment blocks and other buildings sustained damage. Loud explosions were heard in the city, and witnesses confirmed the deployment of both missiles and drones. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the city’s military administration, stated that several apartment buildings, an educational institution, and a commercial building were damaged in districts east of the Dnipro River. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko directed emergency medical crews to the affected areas, reporting seven injured and four residential buildings struck in the Podilskyi district. In addition to Kyiv, Ihor Terekhov, the mayor of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, reported that his city was also under missile and drone attack. The governor of the southeastern Dnipropetrovsk Region confirmed his region was under attack, with anti-aircraft units active in neighboring Zaporizhzhia region.
