Central Japan Railway (JR Central) plans to increase the number of Nozomi super express bullet trains that can run on the line linking Tokyo and Osaka at peak times, the company said Thursday. The decision comes as foreign tourists continue to pour into the country, driving up passenger numbers on the Tokaido Shinkansen line. Separately, JR Central began commercial service of its new bullet inspection train "Dr. S" on Monday, which will begin using inspection equipment in January 2027.
