Honda Motor America is initiating two separate recalls affecting over 1.4 million vehicles in the United States. The larger recall involves 1,049,883 vehicles due to a defect in the tyre repair kit's sealant bottle. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), pressure can build up inside the bottle, potentially causing its cap to detach and become a projectile. This issue affects certain Honda Accord Hybrid, CR-V Fuel Cell EV, and CR-V Hybrid models. Dealers will replace the tyre repair kit nozzle or sealant bottle free of charge as a remedy.
In a separate action, Honda is recalling over 400,000 Civic models from the 2016 through 2021 model years. This recall addresses a wheel defect where steel lug seat inserts were not properly pressed into the aluminum wheel surface during manufacturing. This flaw can lead to the wheel nuts loosening, potentially causing the wheel to separate from the vehicle while in motion, creating a serious crash risk. For this recall, dealers will inspect the wheels and hubs, replacing them if necessary, at no cost to owners.
