Stellantis is recalling more than 1 million Jeep vehicles across its Wrangler and Gladiator models due to a potential fire hazard. The recall, announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), potentially involves 787,887 Wrangler and 289,112 Gladiator vehicles with model years ranging from 2021 to 2025.
The NHTSA stated that the electric hydraulic power-steering pump wiring may overheat, which could lead to a vehicle fire. Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to park them outside and away from structures until the necessary repairs can be made.
An estimated 0.1% of the potentially involved vehicles are thought to have the defect. Dealers will inspect and replace the affected parts at no cost to the owners. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent out on July 9.
