Googlebook phone features unavailable on Samsung at launch

Early adopters have reported that even the latest Samsung phones, such as the Z Fold 8, which ship with Android 17, are unable to maintain a stable connection with the Googlebooks. Google representatives have confirmed these issues, stating that support for Samsung phones is not yet available and an update is planned for release in the "coming weeks."

Even with the future update, only Samsung phones running Android 17 will be compatible, potentially excluding older or lower-end models that may not receive the OS update promptly. Other manufacturers like Motorola and OnePlus are also still testing Android 17 updates for their devices, further limiting the immediate compatibility pool.

The reliance on Android 17-exclusive features for Googlebook integration highlights a persistent challenge in the Android ecosystem, where OS updates often lag across different manufacturers. Despite Google's efforts to modularize updates through Google Play Services, this specific integration requirement means Pixel phones remain the sole option for full mobile connectivity with the new laptops at launch.
