Crystal Palace Football Club has agreed to purchase the HSBC Sports Ground in Beckenham, a move that will allow the club to expand its training facilities. The acquisition of the site, located on Copers Cope Road, follows planning permission granted for significant upgrades to the existing infrastructure.
The club's plans include the demolition of the current garage and grounds maintenance building, along with the removal of water tanks and silos. New construction will feature single-storey and two-storey extensions to the gym and medical block, a new grounds maintenance building, and an enlarged car park. The decision to approve these plans was made on April 10, 2025, after being deferred from a previous meeting.
In 2013, Crystal Palace had previously purchased the Beckenham training base at auction for approximately £2.3 million. This acquisition gave the club greater control over its facilities and long-term direction. Since then, the club has invested over £20 million in developing state-of-the-art facilities across the 50-plus acre site, which remains within Greater London to maintain proximity to the club's core communities.
