The new institutions include the university of branch arms, formed by merging the Army Academy of Armored Forces and the PLA Army Academy of Artillery and Air Defense, with its main campus in Hefei, Anhui Province. This university is described as the PLA's first dedicated to branch-specific education.
Additionally, the engineering university of the PLA Information Support Force has been established, drawing from the National University of Defense Technology and the Army Engineering University, with its main campus in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The engineering university of the PLA Joint Logistic Support Force, based at the Army Logistics Academy and the Army Military Transportation University, will have its main campus in Chongqing Municipality.
According to Jiang Bin, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, all three institutions will begin enrolling high school graduates.
